Friday, January 27th, 32 citizen referees rallied in the bitter cold outside the State Capitol to blow the whistle and throw foul flags on Congressmen Mike Coffman and Cory Gardner for taking over $450K collectively from dirty energy companies and then voting for unpopular projects like Keystone XL and fossil fuel subsidies. Rallygoers enjoyed comical street theater with “Coffman” and “Gardner” masked actors taking big bills from “Big Oil”, “King Coal” and “Fracked Gas”. Speakers included 350.org co-founder Phil Aroneanu, 60-Minutes fracking whistle-blower Phil Doe, Teresa Foster from Longmont ROAR, Tessa McLean from American Indian Movement, Sandy Toland from What the Frack?! Commission, and Chris Getzin from CleanSlateNow.org.
Thanks to all who participated! Check out pictures, and KGNU public radio coverage (4/5 way through show) of the event.
