Kim is a paralegal student who has been an invaluable member of our team for the last 7 months! She’s been volunteering 15-20 hours a week to 350CO’s regulatory efforts at the Air Quality Control Commission (AQCC) and Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC), advocating for the most effective implementation of rules and regulations to reach our state’s greenhouse gas reduction goals (from HB 19-1261). She is also helping to protect our communities from fracking (from SB 19-181) and from Suncor emissions (via the current Title V permit renewal efforts). Kim’s positive energy and readiness to represent us at public hearings, research, write prehearing statements, and more has added much-needed capacity to our organization. Thank you so much for all you do, Kim!!!
Kim started volunteering with 350 Colorado in July of 2020. Kim is a student at the Arapahoe Community College in their Paralegal certificate program and transitioned in November to being a Paralegal Intern for 350CO. Kim will be attending law school in the fall to become an environmental lawyer as a woman in her fifties and she can’t wait!
“I specifically chose 350CO because I am passionate about the environment and determined to end fracking, and was interested in just about every campaign that 350CO is running. I wish I had more time!” – Kim W.
Last summer during the COGCC mission rulemaking 300-900-1200 series and the AQCC’s Rule 7 rulemaking, Kim performed legal and scientific journal research and helped to edit prehearing statements and witness testimony. She also wrote rebuttal statements, attended hearings, and helped our allies to pool time as environmental organizations are seriously shortchanged on allotted time at rulemaking hearings.
Kim continues her great work on our upcoming Climate Lobby Week, the COGCC and AQCC rulemakings, our efforts to stop Suncor’s permit to pollute, and strengthening Colorado’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Roadmap!
“I could only do armchair environmental “warrioring” until recently, and I can’t express how great it feels to have “boots on the ground” at last!” – Kim W.
Thank you Kim!
