Big oil’s friends in Congress are 4 votes away from passing a bill that would approve Keystone XL.
Senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall haven’t taken a stand yet on this key bill, and big oil needs their vote for it to pass. If they decide to vote against the pipeline, this bill fails.
Big oil is going to pour on the pressure between now and the vote, which could be as soon as Tuesday. If we want this pipeline stopped, we’ll need to mobilize between now and then to drown them out.
On Tuesday, 350 Colorado is planning a press conference and rally at starting at Sen. Udall’s office in Denver at 1 PM to tell them to reject the Keystone XL pipeline — can you be there to show Senators Udall and Bennet that Coloradans expect them to stand up to big oil and stop the pipeline?
Here are the details:
What: Press conference and rally outside Sen. Udall and Sen. Bennet’s district offices to show them Coloradans oppose Keystone XL
When: Tuesday May 6th, 1 PM
Where: Outside Sen. Udall’s district office, 999 18th Street Denver, CO
If you can’t attend the event Tuesday, please call our Senators here and spread the word!
Senator Udall: DC office – 202-224-5941 or 877-768-3255 (toll free for Coloradans) | Colorado office – 303-650-7820
Senator Bennet: DC office – 202-224-5852 | Colorado office – 303-455-7600
56 Senators, who have taken $21 million from the oil industry collectively, already support this bill. They need 4 more in order for the bill to move forward. That means Sen. Bennet and Udall’s votes could decide whether Keystone XL is built or not.
I like to believe that organized people have the power to beat organized money. We can fend off this attempt if we get mobilized ASAP — which is why Tuesday’s rally is so important. Can you be there at 1 PM to put a stop to this scheme to build the pipeline?
